VYCC is all about working on a crew (a small team). You’ll work hard together and laugh a lot. You’ll help each other, and be surprised at what you can get done!
The work is hard. Our goal is to make sure you are safe and supported. Your goal will be to complete projects that make your community and the environment healthier. Crews and VYCC staff are all about advancing the work of growing food, building trails, cleaning up our waterways, building efficient backcountry shelters, and/or improving forest health.

You will notice many positions are AmeriCorps service positions. Learn more about AmeriCorps benefits.
There is a single application for all Corps Member positions, and a single application for all Leader positions. After filling out the application, a VYCC staff member will be in touch to discuss the specific position you are looking for.
Completing an application does not obligate you to join VYCC. It is the first step for us to learn more about one another. We look forward to helping you find a position that fits what you are looking for!

Crew Leader positions
Leaders are the mentors, guides, and teachers that help Crew Members accomplish their goals. They hold the big picture: the crew, the project, their individual crew members–and bring it all together to lead their crew to success. These positions are open to people ages 18+.
Crew Member positions
Members are the reason so many impactful projects get done. They show up ready to learn, serve, and be a part of their crew community. There are Member positions for people with many different skill levels. Whether this is your first job or you are bringing skills and experiences, there is a place for you on a crew. These positions are open to people ages 15+.
Staff positions
VYCC employs seasonal and year-round staff.
Our office is a collegial, bustling, and fun open office atmosphere, which offers staff opportunities to interact and collaborate. Staff members can balance working remotely and on-campus in collaboration with their team schedule, tasks and all-staff gatherings. Successful staff are able to maintain focus and productivity, balance personal initiative and independence, and plug into our team in ways that help us do our best work as an organization. Staff enjoy the perks of the Farm at VYCC and forest campus year-round, as well as the happenings of nearby downtown Richmond.
